Bluetooth or aux in
#1
Hi

I appreciate there are many threads around this subject but after searching I am unable to decide what option may be best for me.

I am about to take delivery of a new berlingo but it has no Bluetooth or aux for connecting music device or phone.

As it is a work vehicle on a lease I am reluctant to make major modifications and wondered how easy it is to add this functionality.

I wouldn’t undertake the work myself given it is a work vehicle but if I had an understanding of the price I should expect to pay to add this (and then potentially remove to return vehicle to former state at end of lease) I could decide whether to do it or stick with the Bluetooth speaker on my dash.

I am not looking for top of the range or anything just something to play podcasts, and possibly music through the stock stereo. Cost and how intrusive the work would be are main considerations.

Fm transmitter or Bluetooth speaker is an ok workaround but if I am to have this vehicle for another 4 years I’d hopefully be able to use the vehicle stereo.

If you know what stereo is fitted to your van please post it as it will help people to help you.

There are solutions for the rd4 unit , but I don't know if they are still fitting these to new vans.

As yet I am unsure, I don’t get it till 2nd March. Just been told it will be stock radio and no options have been added other than parking sensors.

OK so what I have is one of these.

From my limited knowledge and a bit of Googling I believe this is indeed an rd4.

What is the best (easiest) way to achieve an input to stereo from phone or ipad?

I was able to fit a plug to the back of the unit in my Bipper that had the same radio. Cost me about £8 for the cable and plug. Just meant that I had a cable hanging out of the dash for the 3.5mm jack for my phone.

On the Berlingo , you will need the aux to be enabled, to check you use the source button where you change from cd to FM to see if there a aux option, if there is great ,if not it needs to be enabled by someone with lexia or diagbox or a dealer.

I get cd or radio only.

Given the varied cost of getting aux enabled surely I'll be better just replacing the stereo with a cheap one from ebay with my connectivity needs?

You may find there is a little black unit in your glove box that has a audio jack in, usb in and a s Video (I think). I found one in my berlingo a few days after buying the car. The usb won’t take the iPhone I found but works with a standard mo3 player.

I checked for the USB and aux port in glove box but don't have it
