B9 Head Unit Upgrade
#1
Hi All

As the title suggests, has anyone on the forum upgraded thier standard radio to a Sat Nat type head unit

Looking through the previous posts recognise a few of the forum members have upgraded to a non OEM but lose ability to manage standard dash settings. So wondering if anyone has successfully upgraded to a PSA OEM Sat Nav head unit

thanks in advance

You’d need the head unit reprogrammed. It already has the satnav capability but you’d also need the aerial base with gps built in, the additional cable to run from the aerial base and £££ from the dealer who knows what they’re doing to implement it into the vehicle.

It’ll be cheaper to get an iPhone contract and use something like apple maps or Waze via CarPlay.

Erm what about a car play or android auto linked device which would then give you google maps or Waze and turn by turn navigation for good measure

Plugs into your phone with a cable and just works pretty damn well

300 quid gets you a nice pioneer 5100 from Argos currently, works awesomely well, plus 40 quid for an adaptor to control the stereo from the stalk and also program the display if required ??

I've just successfully fitted a Pioneer sph-da230dab and nd-bc8 camera to a PPT Outdoor 2012.

Bought a kit for a 307 which included everything apart from the dab aerial amp/splitter which I got separately.

After chopping out the middle bar it was pretty much plug and play, had fun tucking the various boxes in to the dash but got there in the end.

Head unit came with a surround that left a gap between the heater controls and head unit. The kit came with a cage and surround I didn't use but worked out cheaper than buying everything loose. Kit also has a connect2 branded surround which fills the gap perfectly.

I just cut a 3mm abs shape matched to the curve of the heater controls and it fits snug with the exact same headunit

Also to lose the cables... it’s so easy you’ll kick yourself!! The display above the radio rear end just unclips and gives access to a large void so you can slide the radio in and extract all the leads behind and bundle them up, fit the stereo, add cable ties etc and pop the display and it’s surround back on and alls good in the world ??

Then you need all the factory cables to go with it, and I’m not sure what stereos need gps info anyway, navigation generally come with one and it can be fitted at the rear of the dash under the display plastics with zero issues

This may be handy if you have a factory version of the same antennae, but otherwise it’s a fairly expensive way to add a gps aerial imo ??

All navigators GPS need antenna GPS. Its not mandatory install the original from Citroen / Peugeot. You can install one Garmin or another company.
