I went out to the car today having not used it for about a week, pressed the button on the key and heard a weak click but not the locks opening as they usually do. I had to use the key manually to open the drivers door and the car started alright. I've checked all the fuses in both boxes and all are good, the lights flash as if the doors are working but the solenoids are not clicking but if I open the rear doors manually then the locks will close again but not reopen. I charged the car battery and put a new battery in the key fob, did a BSI reset and still the same is happening. Any ideas, and where is the receiver for the signal from the key fob ? Any clues gratefully received before I start taking the doors apart.
So where does this bit go then ?

It only does the same as the key, the two rear doors will lock but not open and the fronts and boot are just a faint click but not doing anything. It's baffled me because they are obviously getting the signal just not operating.

Could it be the servos and lock mechanisms are a bit stiff and need a bit of lube. Not sure what type and age of your vehicle but if its an M59 the controller for the central locking is down in the drivers footwell by your right foot. You could check out the connections for breaks and resistance. If I remember right its a green coloured box.
Are we there yet?????

I'll have a look at the controller when the weather picks up, it's really peeved me today so it's going to be used manually for a day or two. It's 16 years old so might be due a bit of attention.

Forecast looks a bit better for tomorrow I'll have a look for the green box and see if anything is disconnected or damp has got in. It's like being back in the stone age having to use the key every time
