.. Remapping .. Anyone here done this ??
#1
As title has anyone on this Forum actually done a re-map on their 1.6 Hdi engine ??

I know there is lots of talk on the Forum that it can be done and there are folks for and against but has anyone actually done it and how did it work out, I'm looking from an everyday perspective of general useability and mpg changes rather than from a boy racer perspctive. Did you find any pro's and con's ?

To answer the question before it arises yes I am considering doing this on an M59 75 engine.

i,ve had a 1.7cdti remapped, and it made a big difference to the power, made bugger all difference to the mpg tho (you dont get something for nothing Wink )
a remap will chuck out more soot when booted, and my 90hp 1.6hdi goes well enough so i hav,nt bothered with mine, i would if it was the 75 tho

Hi all,

Anybody with real world experience of a remap on a 75 bhp 1.6 hdi? A local tuner is offering me a remap to 115 bhp and I like the sound of it but I don't want to ruin my motor.

Any horror stories or good news would be greatly appreciated.

40 bhp gain from a map? No uprated injectors, no variable vane turbo. 75bhp to a 90bhp from a map is entirely possible but I think the gains your specialist is quoting are a long way off.

Not done this myself but I was tempted to get my 1.6 90 remapped to 115. The 2 reasons I didn't were:
1, Increased stress on the clutch
2,It was fast enough for me and gave enough MPG as it was

I have no shares in this place, but I did have a lot of contact with them when I had a MAF problem, they seem to know their stuff.

90 to 115 shouldn't be an issue - isnt the 90 just a derated 115?

Got an updated ECU for my 75hp. The 75hp is exactly the same as the 90hp engine. The new ECU is supposed to give me 120hp (and I think 260Nm), and to me it feels like it could be. Accelerates a lot quicker, don't know top speed but when the 75hp had stopped accelerating the 120hp ECU just keeps pushing on. But most of all the torque has increased and the rev range is atleast 100% better.

Got the ECU from HDI-Tuning.

Super, thanks fellas. Yes AFAIK the 75 and 90 BHP machines are indentical. The 110 BHP version has a VNT and different injectors. That is to say that the 75 is a detuned 90. So 115 BHP doesn't sound unreasonable. A good few companies seem to be offering about the same increase.

Thanks for the replies. I just wanted to see if anybody had had any bad experiences or any other advice. The remap is happening tomorrow evening and I will keep ye posted.

Peace out

I had mine done by hdi tuning in January, all good and tons of torque. It's the 6 speed semi auto and I was his first customer with that configuration. Only down side is the clutch control system is calibrated for less power so over slips a bit in the higher gears if I push it hard. It recovers quickly and settles within seconds.

So I got the remap done 5 or so days ago. It is a map by Viezu that claims to give 118bhp. I don't know if it is 118bhp but it is definitely a huge improvement. It makes the van so much more driveable. I would highly recommended getting this done. 220 euro well spent.
