[Engine] Sump Refuses to Budge - Help!

Any tips for getting the sump off from a 1.6HDi?
I've taken all the bolts off and unwound the 2 studs. Apart from a bit of sealant creaking, it just refuses to come off. At the right hand end next to the belts, I can get a screwdriver in and have had a go at levering it off but it's stuck fast & I'm a bit worried about cracking the bottom of the engine.

Are you positive that you have removed every bolt? not trying to tell you how to suck eggs but if its that tight there has to be something holding it on not just sealant I would of thought.
Are we there yet?????

I thought the same and did double check, I'll take another look tomorrow just to be sure though. Strange thing is that if I'd left a bolt in, it should just be stuck in that area, but the whole thing is solid. Haynes suggests running a putty knife around the edges, maybe that & some heat along the edges.

Done! As per Mr Haynes, get a paint scraper / putty knife and work it along between the block & sump. After getting the scraper most of the way down the long rear side, the rear & sides came free. Then it was a case of rocking from side to side.
In case anyone is wondering if there's a fair amount of oil left in the sump, the answer is, yes.

Late to the party as always.... BIG kitchen knife - allows you to get a decent amount of leverage just be aware of where the strainer etc etc is. Works for HDi sumps, fancy falootin' automatic gearboxes and lots of other stuff that uses superglue instead of gaskets. On the HDi it's a bit tight around the right end where the exhaust crosses it. If you are really careful you can get it back into the knife block without SWMBO noticing :-)
Best one I've had is the Jeep auto box, no drain plug and the book says you need to drop the sump when the oil is hot to aid draining - around 8 litres of hot oil? Grrrreat.

Not to revive an old thread, but I was changing the turbo cartridge and thought of changing/cleaning the sump oil pickup as well.
I can take off or have access to all the sump bolts, apart from one that is just underneath the flexi exhaust line. I tried to put a socket in there, but it is just too tight. I can post a photo is necessary, but seems rather impossible to put a socket to undo with the flexi exhaust part still there, no matter how much flexing I was doing.
Just wanted to ask how you did that one bolt. I think looking from the front of the car it is one behind the right stud.

I think that I either used a 1/4" drive socket or perhaps an 8mm ring spanner on a couple of the sump bolts. For some reason, the gap between the sump & the exhaust flexi seems to be different from some engines to others.
