Hello,
#1
Hello,
I've joined as in these strange times we live in at the moment, I need some advice while I wait to see what Garages are open.

So not sure how a forum works, but this is my issue.......I have a small brake fluid leak coming from what looks like a connector at threar just in front of the rear O/S wheel, the leak is not from the wheel assembly but from what looks like a plastic reservoir/tank lying beside the exhaust system.

Any ideas what this tank/box is and why it is leaking? Thanks

Model is...... Citroen Berlingo Multispace BlueHDI 100 Flair, year 2017

Thanks

UPDATE: Right good folks, after further investigation, I now believe this is something called a DPF tank, I did'nt belive it was brake fluid even though I had to start somewhere. Does this now make sense? And is it OK if I continue to drive the car for a while until I get it to the garage? Thanks

PS: the car has only done 39,000 miles so surely this should not have failed?

Welcome to the forum.
Hopefully someone will know what to advise but if you don't get any replies to this thread, it may be worth trying again in the B9 or K9 section.

Hi there, if you don't have an AdBlue filler cap beside your fuel cap, then like me, you have a PAT additive system which is what you have found to be leaking. Its a pouch system, they have been known to leak or burst, and eventually you will get a "depollution fault" and your DPF will not clean effectively. The fluid pouch can be refilled if not damaged, but there is also a pump that injects this fluid into the fuel tank each time you fill up.

It detects the fuel cap being replaced and squirts a bit of Eolys / PAT fluid into the fuel. The pouch contents is 1.1L and should last near 100k miles. They have been known however to split at the seam of the bag - which is inside the protective tank thing. The connector cap colour of the bag or pouch is critical and a new one must match the colour of your bag connector.

If the pump is leaking, you would have to investigate further but the French call the DPF system a FAP system (which I still think means Fuel Additive Pump lol) but it also has a French translation. You can find new (filled) pouches and possibly replacement pumps on ebay. A pouch is over £100.

There are refill kits available if the pouch isn't damaged. The thing in your picture looks like the pump. The bag os in a plastic tank enclosure bolted to the floor underneath.

Thanks for the reply.
I do have the adblue filler cap next to the fuel cap, but it would seem I also have this dfp/fap or eolys pouch which I assume is part of the particle filter, I don't know how it works or why it has failed. I did recently have an accident, where a deer run out in front of me, the car has been repaired, but as all the damage was at the front I think this is unrelated, just bad bad luck on my part.

If you have an adblue filler cap, then you don't have the pouch , but you do have an adblue tank, and an additive pump to put the adblue into the fuel tank. So it looks like your pump may be leaking adblue or the tank is damaged.

I'd advise you get a mechanic to check it for you.
