Big enough to sleep in with front seats up?
#1
I notice they boot jumps require you to put the front seats all the way forward and tilt as far down as possible.
If I was to make my own boot jump and shorten it slightly so that the rivers seat could stay in the usual position, would there me enough room to sleep in the back? I'm 5ft 11

It doesn't say much at the moment as I don't have a van! Still trying to decide between a berlingo and something slightly longer like a caddy or a lwb berlingo van

Hi, I made my own boot jump, it was made to fit in the load space with an fold up extension, when sleeping we fold the passenger and middle seat down and the extension folds down and sits on top of the folded seat's, of coarse you can only do this with a van with a centre seat. Our van is a 2017 and the set up works great.

1/ You should have said before ...

2/ Get a longer one for your particular needs ...

Thanks! Should have said I'm looking at a multispace so don't think that would work for me. Do you reckon there's 6ft behind the driver seat when it's in normal position or is there no chance?

Apologies for any confusion. Just still trying to work out what my needs are and what will suit at the moment. Hence the question about space behind the seats. If a berlingo will work for me I'll save myself a few grand and get one instead of a caddy or similar.

I'm 5ft 10 I have tested just this scenario in a 2013 multispace.

On the passenger side with the seat in a normal sitting position my feet do still touch the back of the seat and my head the tailgate lining when I'm fully stretched out.

I'm not squashed when doing so though. If you were to slide the front seats forward so the driver and passenger have less foot room I think you could find you can just about do it comfortably.

You are going to have to fill the dip for the rear seat footwell in the loadspace anyway so it would be a case of making a "flap" to suit your height and you would need to consider how much you are prepared to push the front seats forward when you make the bed.

One of the few positives with covid is that car dealers are doing unaccompanied test drives at them moment, so you could do what I did, test drive one, take it round the corner, remove the seats and play around with various configurations, without feeling awkward around the dealer. Measurements alone don't really give you a "feel" for a space.

Cheers! I like the idea of use being able to set the bed up but then potentially move the car or sit in the front. (Or jump in the front quick and drive off if I'm in a layby and some nut case turns up!)

Have you decided on a boot jump or camped in it yet? Tempted to try to make my own to my own requirements when I eventually break the analysis paralysis and actually buy a van, but it comes down to time and the Amdro etc ones look a lot better than my attempt would.

I've had a B9 & M59 that I used for camping, in order to get comfortable in either, I made a bed with a folding flap & then folded the front passenger seat down flat in the B9, or pushed & tilted it totally forwards in the M59. I'm about 5' 10"
I sold my B9 as a camper to someone that's 6'4", he'd had an M49 for a few years & had no problem with the space. I think the thing with the Berlingo is that it's very versatile but you do need to make allowances.
The next size up is the Dispatch / Expert, both will allow over 6' with the front seats in normal position.
