First time Citroen owner from Australia
#1
Hi all,

I'm an automotive locksmith based near Brisbane in Queensland, Australia.
I have recently purchased a 2001 Berlingo to fit out with my equipment, as travelling around with my gear in the family BMW X5 was getting difficult (too much equipment).

First thing I want to do, is replace the horrible cassette deck with something more modern, with BT etc.. I've noticed that the Berlingo sometimes has a single DIN unit mounted up towards the top of the dash, but mine has a single DIN unit mounted lower, in what appears to be a double DIN slot.. can anyone confirm if its double DIN?

I am also adding central locking, as the car does not have it fitted from factory it seems.

Cheers.

Hi mate, and welcome. Though I have never had an 01 to compare with my previous M59's and B9's. I think it did have a "double din looking" hole but wasn't strictly double-din size. Could be there are adaptors available, maybe from Connects2 to fit a standard stereo in that hole. The later ones had a single din mounted higher up and a storage box below it.

Could be someone on here who actually still has an M49 (getting rarer by the day) could confirm if they've been able to slot a DD in that space.

Being an auto-locksmith, you could be very useful (info wise) to our ever growing band of people who drop in with key issues or locking faults.

I have a spare double DIN unit (does not function properly) but I can use it to compare size I guess...

As for key/immobiliser information, I'd be happy to help where I can.

That's a good shout, sorry I can't say for sure but if you check manually then at least that info will help you and any others who are also wondering!

We are a helpful lot and have a huge amount of info & experience among the core members which will definitely be useful as you go along.
