Fault codes and engine warning
#1
Citroen Berlingo 1.6 Blue HDI 625 Enterprise, 2017

Had an engine warning light come on yesterday. Took it to a local mechanic (he aint very good but put it on the reader for me).

A few codes came up, wondering if you could shed some light on it?

P1434 96 Multiplexed additive pump internal fault
P1435 00 Fuel additive pump Not characterized
P02CD 00 Combustion cylinder 1 only fill with recommended fluid not characterized
P02C3 00 Combustion cylinder 4 only fill with recommended fluid not characterized
P02CF 00 Combustion cylinder 2 only fill with recommended fluid not characterized
P242F 00 Upper limit for additive in particulate filter Not characterized
U0118 87 Multiplexed Additive pump lost information

Hopefully that makes sense to someone and can send me down the right track.

Apart from the first two codes, the rest are pure nonsense mate. You don't fill a cylinder with a fluid.

Anyway it looks like you are either out of Eolys additive (pouch under the rear) or out of Adblue (tank beside the main fuel tank) or both, or their is a fault with the additive pump(s)

You need to go to someone who knows Citroen diesels to get this resolved properly. It could be easy to fix or very costly, depends on what's wrong with the additive systems (you have two on your vehicle)

Thanks for the help. Yeah, obviously trying to avoid a big bill if at all possible. To try and find the right person to fix it now!¬

Aye it's not easy, really you'd be best to find an independent PSA (Peugeot / Citroen) garage who would know what to check and would have the right software.

Any garage can throw parts at it till you run out of money or they get fed up, so try to find an indy PSA place. Google is your friend there.

These vehicles are prone sometimes to spitting out the Adblue tank or pump on the one you have, and that is eye-watering to replace. A tank itself is the thick end of £750 to £1000 just for the replacement unit. The pump is integral to the tank and can't be had separately.

So, best to get a proper diagnostic done first to see what you're up against.

If it was just a urea low warning then I'd have said it only needs topped up with Adblue, a full tank only lasts 12,500 miles (about 7 litres from memory) but the fact the codes mention pump internal faults and multiplexed additive faults then it's likely something has let go.
