Dear members,

I have a genuine tow bar wiring kit which I fiited to a Berlingo XTR. Checked, checked, and rechecked wiring but on final instructions page it talks about @ 'By means of the PPS-Lexia / Proxia 3 (Original equipment menu) indicate the presence of the BSR (trailer control manual) in the BSI. Does this mean I can`t activate and the car needs to go to a Peugeot dealer to activate?

No lights on trailer and everything fitted as should be. Could really do with some guidance here as I live on an island on the west coast of Scotland and thought the kit would make life easier to install. Please help or guide,

In a word yes unless you can find someone with a lexia. Your local auto electrician. Our Local Citroen dealer charges £30 to activate devices but they charge £180 to supply, fit and activate a 7 plus 7 Citroen towbar wiring system.

Dear Peter,

Thank you for confirming. It is a genuine part but more time consuming to install as I thought as it has twin electrics. Could figure out what I was doing wrong and checked everything three times. Hopefully when activated all will be operational. Thank you peter

I had mine fitted at a non Citroen towbar fitting place. He set it up OK. And it needed resetting, a few times. It seems fine now; all he (and I )do to reset is - pull out the fuse thingy. And push back in. You need to remove the LH box in the boot behind the back wheel. A garage guy`ll hit it wi the palm of his hand; it flies off. I had to use a screwdriver, carefully. Managed OK. Good luck! (Bloody French cars)

Went to a dealer who charged 60 to activate. Told me that the software detected wire which was loose on the tow electrics and all activated. Drove car back to island where I live and hooked up trailer and nothing. Checked tow electrics but no sign it had been removed as cable ties and screws in same position. Called dealer in the morning and they say the software showed all electrics for tow bar wiring activated and working. Claimed it was wire in the fuse box in the passenger glovebox which was loose. Does anyone know if the software confirms all working ok or is dealer fibbing to cover his tracks? If activated and working, my trailer isn't showing any sign of life. Changed connector block on trailer just in case. Any help on activation software or tip to reset would help. Dealer told me to bring car and trailer in to check. Once I told him it would cost 60 on a ferry to bring, soon realised his mistake. With it being a genuine part I thought this would make my life easier but it has been the exact opposite. Please give any advice to help.

Which fuse did you pull out to reset I have one in the glovebox, engine, and 2 on the control box in the boot area? Left a new thread about my dealer experience,

Try to remove battery + cable for 3 minutes. and try again.

The joys of a genuine wiring kit. Following the garage saying their was a loose wire in the fuse box, I investigated. Using the wiring instructions manual notice 2 sets of instructions for the fuse box area. If you have an existing fuse box then it tells you to move on 4 sections. Or build a fuse box using the 4 steps. Talk about nightmare as I had the existing fuse box. However, looked for the 3 cables it shows on the diagrams. On removing the fuse box, noticed no wiring to the 15amp fuse. Strange diagram shows otherwise and tells you to simply put in a 15amp fuse. Found 2 of the 3 hidden wires. 1 is a socket, 2nd looks like an earth, and missing one is red wire which fits into the fuse holder. No matter how I looked at the mass of wiring could not find the red wire. Checked all looms but nothing. It should have a small connecting socket which slots at the back of the fuse holder in the glovebox to the right of the wiring. Anyone know where the red wire is?
Anyway connected the black earth into the top of the fuse holder and after 5 mins managed to push the socket into the module box at the back. More difficult than it looks. Although I don't have the red socket in the fuse box area decided to test tow electrics. Managed to get indicators, hazards, fog, side lights but no brake lights. It could be my trailer as in built lights but will buy a tow board to be on the safe side. What a pig of a job and felt mechanics were poor to say loose wire when there was no wire in the first place. If anyone knows the whereabouts of spare red wire in the fuse box in the glove comartment please let me know. Hopefully solved as long as brake lights work.

Now you actually powered it (unit you installed in back)
Now it must be activated to work...correctly.
