Low profile tyres.

Hi,

I've seen a set of 17" alloys with low profiles on.

What are your thoughts on low profs on a working van?

Are they OK or will I have problems??

Wouldnt 17" be too big especially with weight in making it even lower and regarding the low profiles i had them on a previous car and the ride was shocking it felt like there was no suspension and everything rattled. But that is my opinion and maybe someone on here has some fitted already and could let you know.

Ahh, I had thought with the added wheel size but the reduced tyre height that the ride height woudn't be altered at all, as the overall wheel+tyre diameter would be the same. Is that not the case?Confusedillyme:

you could possibly be right although on mine the rear arches look smaller than the front but as i say the ride quality is compromised,

I had 17" alloys on the van for a while with 205/40 tyres with no problems (other than monster truck stance on standard suspension) only time I got rubbing on the rear arches was when I was carrying some bloody heavy ceramic floor tiles in the back! Weirdly I thought it rode better than when it had the standard 14's fitted lol.

Low profile tyres will make negligible effect to the ride comfort. What usually affects it is when you also lower the suspension at the same time as fitting new wheels and tyres. If the suspension is of the cheaper variety, and not 'tuned' to the specific model of car/van, then the ride quality will change.

I am a wall and floor tiler, so 17" are out the window for me...:lol:

Looks like i'll be searching for a set of 15's at the most Rolleyes

It all depends on rolling radius and offset. If the rolling radius are offset of 17" wheel and tyres is the same as the stock Berlingo wheel and tyre combo, then you'll have exactly the same clearances, therefore no rubbing issues any different to if you were running the stock wheels and tyres.
