removal of brake light cluster to change bulb
#1
Hi,
I've just joined as I bought my Multispace XTR 2011 model about 2 months ago. Today a driver behind me in a jam told me my rear brake light isn't working (kind of him tbh as you can't tell when you're driving).
I've had a look at the cluster & the only thing I can see to get it off is there are two screws that look like they would need a small allen key. Is that how you get it off to access the bulbs?
Thanks in advance
Pete

Hi Peter welcome to the forum ive not got a B9 model but I'm sure an owner will be along soon to tell you how to remove the lights. Looking on ebay at the rear lights it looks like you are right and the unit is held on by two bolts http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Berlin...Swd4tT~eWx
Are we there yet????? Huh

It'll have two screws and will almost certainly also be held on by two pins. You may find it appears tight to come off but that's the way these things are designed.

the two screws you note are torx head (star head), besides the two screws you need to be aware and gently unclip the retaining clip (see attached photo, have put a square around the clip in question) probably best thing to do is push gently from the outside of the light (push the outside edge inwards)

Also make sure when putting it back to not to pinch the foam as otherwise it will cause water leak in to the back quarter panel and the connector

There is a tool in with the jack(under the passenger seat) that looks like an allen key but is in fact a torx head 'key' that is there specifically for the purpose of removing the rear light cluster - I only found it when I went to sell my partner and was checking the jack was still there. The tool is there on my new bingo jack too. If I recall is a T40 torx head

Brilliant everyone, thanks very much. I'll be having a go in the next couple of days. I'll let you know how I get on.

Annoyingly, there is no tool or jack under either the passenger or driver seat. I do have sets of tools and one does have torx head bits, but only goes up to T30, which does feel a bit loose. Looks like I'll have to get a set.

Actually I think I was wrong (never happened before Tongue ) - the T40 I used for the roof rails - think it might be a Torx T27 - so you should have one. I'm told you can get a small screwdriver to fit at a push.
See diagram below - item 12 is what is usually tucked in the jack kit.  - you can see it also in photo below - perhaps the jack is within the spare wheel like in the photo

Thank you so much for this little nugget of knowledge. You have saved me a visit to the garage. I found your post via Google. Thank you!
