My car failed to start this morning which is very unusual as it normally fires up instantly.

It's a 1.6 16v petrol. 

The car is turning over but not firing up. I initially thought it was an immobiliser issue, but this doesn't now look the case. 

I had a look and tried a BSI reset, but no change. I thought it was something electrical going on, but couldn't find any fuse issues or wiring problems.

Fault codes I got were P0261, P0264, P0267, P0270 and P0444

Ignition related by the looks of those codes. It's been towed to my local mechanic who has had a quick look and there doesn't appear to be fuel coming through so, suspects the pump has gone. There's half a tank in, so it's not empty. 

Unfortunately it looks like the tank has to come off to replace the pump! 

Just wondered if anyone has experienced anything similar?? 

I am now hoping it is just the pump that's fried. It's quite possible as the car is LPG and it's a regular issues as the tank can be low for long periods leaving the pump high and dry as it doesn't get fresh petrol added often enough.

Fuel pump was the issue. However, it's been an unlucky day as the front driver's side spring had snapped following the unloading from the flat loader.

Not my day!

Turns out the spring had snapped in 2 places. One was an old break that had rusted and I hadn't even noticed.

When it snapped lower down it sheared off and was in danger of puncturing the tyre.

So in a way if you look on the bright side the pump failing must of been a sign from the gods that all wasn't well.

Well if the spring has snapped in two places thats in theory your 3 

No, my 3rd one has occurred and is the top strut bearing on the side that had a new spring.

Fortunately my mechanic is not charging any labour for doing it, given that changing the spring has probably been the reason it's now making a noise!!

I just need the new strut and bearing which seem cheap enough although my neighbour owns a motor factor and usually gets me decent quality bits at cost if I am able to plan a repair!!
