Driveshaft boot clamp - tanto - 12-07-2014 Hi folks, is it possible to get a replacement driveshaft boot clamp on its own or do I have to buy a complete kit? Whilst cleaning up my brake discs a couple of weeks ago I noticed that the clamp had split, managed to fit a very strong cable tie in its place as a temporary measure but it has started to loose grease all over the the inside of the hub assembly. Hopeing I can get it fixed without having to strip every thing down as the boots are both in very good condition. Thanks, Dave. RE: Driveshaft boot clamp - Jed Clampit - 12-07-2014 Yes you can a local garage will do it or you can get a DIY kit or if you know some one in your neighbourhood that fixes car's Citroen will charge around £47 RE: Driveshaft boot clamp - Gadgetman - 12-07-2014 Somehing like these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-PAIRS-UNIVERSAL-STAINLESS-STEEL-CV-JOINT-DRIVESHAFT-BOOT-CLIPS-CLAMPS-H-DUTY-/171382845986?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27e736b222&vxp=mtr You also need a special tool for them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CV-BOOT-CLIPS-FITTING-TOOL-PLIERS-20-STAINLESS-STEEL-UNIVERSAL-CLAMPS-H-DUTY-/171368333966?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item27e659428e This one is a bit on the expensive side but at least you can see how it looks. Edit: Buy more clamps than you need... It's easy to overtighten the clamp the first time you try, and break it.... RE: Driveshaft boot clamp - tanto - 13-07-2014 Thanks for the replies guys, will have a word with the mechanics at work tomorrow and see if they have the necessary bits to fix it. Didn't fancy stripping everything down just to fit a clamp, was going to try a jubilee clip but might be a bit tight for room. Thanks again folks, Dave. |
