When does the knocking happen?
Slow, fast, going over bumps, braking, accerlation, cornering , hard lock?
The more information the easier it is for people to help you.

As there around a tenner and easy to do you could just change it.
But firstly I would check to see if the bushes have worn, cracked, split , hardened etc and see if there's any play in it.

When mine did it I found the spring had broken.
