Diesel ignition wiring - kennard - 25-02-2015 Have a problem with '97 M49 diesel: Van won't start as when ignition switch is rotated to the 'start' position, nothing happens other than the ignition light extinguishing. Have tested starter off the vehicle and it is fine. (have not yet tested feed to starter solenoid). Can someone provide the wiring at the ignition switch barrel. I haven't the time to sort this if there is a short in the ignition/starter harness, so wish to bypass/replace that wiring but ... need the ignition switch wiring colours !! Many thanks in anticipation of response. RE: Diesel ignition wiring - brodfather11 - 25-02-2015 You probably know that your symptoms are a sign of flat battery/bad terminals , are they Ok. Haynes says the wire you want is numbered 100, doesn't give colours but all the wires are numbered. the wire from the battery to the starter is BB4 , (will be a heavy duty wire) RE: Diesel ignition wiring - kennard - 25-02-2015 Battery is fine, as are terminals and engine earth. Thanks for info. Used to far older vehicles than the Berlingo, so find the lack of colour coding . strange ! OK, have now looked at ignition switch: Whilst 6 cables are evident (4 red / 2 white), there are no number 'tags' or markings. 2 red go to a brown plug (at the side of the fusebox) 1 red and 1 white go to a black plug (at the side of the fusebox) 1 red and 1 white go to a grey plug (at the side of the fusebox) Any information as to which cables are which would be appreciated. |
