Sliding door rattle - lakeside - 22-06-2016

I asked once before and cannot find a recent thread on the subject, can any one advise. Stuffing a rag in the sliding mechanism seems to help but there must be something better than that; rubber washers around the sockets on the arms is suggested but that does not look an easy job.

RE: Sliding door rattle - Shawks - 22-06-2016

I have had a rattle from the drivers side rear door for some time now, on mine I have ruled out the window as a cause and believe the noise to be coming from the lower track and roller unit. I have been trying to adjust the door guides to compensate, but there seems to be no adjustment in the way the bracket is mounted.
I would like to hear if anyone can help with some idea of how to fix this?

Thanks

Got rid of mine by adjusting the striker plate. Mk 2 2.0hdi.

I used Doofers helpful adaptation for the door rattle and it worked a treat. I am happy to recommend it.

RE: Sliding door rattle - melpa - 29-07-2023

Greetings. I found this old post addressing the issue of the sliding door rattle that has newly developed in my Berlingo and is quickly worsening. It is coming from the upper roller wheel/roller guide channel.

Upon investigation there is a worn out adhesive pad of unknown material on the inside of the roller guide channel where the roller wheel comes to rest. I'm looking into replacing it, but can find no mention of its existence anywhere which leads me to wonder if the previous owner put it there to address the rattle.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this pad and what I might replace it with? The adhesive must be very strong as the pad remains in place while a groove has been worn into it by the roller wheel - rendering it ineffective.

Cheers

I’m experiencing knocking from B9 right side sliding door. As above, it seems to originate from the top rail front end which is missing the adhesive softening pad.

As replacement, I applied patches of adhesive soft sound deadening material to stop the top front roller play, but this did not yet solve the issue.

I ended up using a square of adhesive felt - the type used to protect floors from furniture legs with a particularly strong adhesive - placed at the top rail end SIDE. This fixed the problem until the felt square was displaced and the rattle returned. I’ve attached a new piece with extra contact adhesive and so far so good.
