Drivers rear door window smashed - joenh02 - 30-06-2016

My drivers rear door window has smashed and not sure of my options.  I've managed to remove most of the bonding but can't seem to find a replacement. Was thinking of getting a plastic one cut but not sure if that will work. Anyone had this problem before as its a bit of a nightmare for me Sad any advise would be appreciated

I don't understand what bond are you talking about, this is the sliding door correct? It's just 3 latches that hold the entire glass

Sorry this is the rear door on a van. Both rear windows are bonded in place

Can't u claim on insurance?

You will be hard pushed to get a secondhand one, go to your local autoglass specialist and either buy one of them and fit it yourself but you will need bonding agent or get them to fit it.

Wouldn't be worth the excess as only bought the van for £600. Will just board and seal if I can't find one but would rather it looked neater

Will give them a ring tomorrow and see. Was wondering if I could cut a plastic one from a template but don't think it'll fit

May be cheaper to replace the whole door with s/hand one . same colour if poss.

It's cheaper like you said to simply get a sheet of polycarbonate, or if you want expensive lexan, plexiglass that sort of thing, cut it to shape and use rivets to mount it. Apply bathroom silicone before you rivet it on to get a seal. If you don't want to look at it, you can paint a strip to cover the rivert/silicone area

p.s Didn't know there are some vans that come with glass at the back. The glass passenger version is not like that, the windows can be slightly open hence why they are attached on 3 points and easy to remove.

I cant see a rear window costing that much from a windscreen supplier - just not autoglass as they'll pull your pants down.

I only paid 80 quid for a windscreen on my Bipper.
