1.9d, even slower than usual.. - ajcommercial - 04-07-2016

Hiya All...
Has anyone noticed that their 1.9d is slower than usual ? It might be just mine but I have noticed that sometimes it goes as expected and sometimes it barely has enough power to rev itself up.. getting to 70 is a matter of maybe, not when.. even putting the clutch in and revving the engine it wont go over 4k and there is no power until 2.5k.. I thought ( hoping ) it might have something to do with the weather...
Air filter is new, EGR is disabled, only ever used Shell fuel, Oil is new, getting 36mpg when playing up and 44 when normal..

Is it the late one with the ecu on the pass suspension turret? If so try unplugging the air flow meter and see if it goes any better, if nothing changes pull the pipe from the front of the inlet and make sure the air dozer isn't folding shut and blocking the airpath strangling the engine...

Also check the throttle is getting fully open by getting someone to press foot to the floor and see if the pump arm moves any more by hand (don't trap ya pinkys though!)

It is the one with the ECU on the N/S turret, I will try what you have suggested. Now you mention the MAF it makes sense that if it were failing the fuel / air mix would be all over the shop..
If the flap is lose, I'm guessing the best way to secure it is to screw through the outside ? Or remove the flap ?
