High pitched whine when driving. - Chri5 - 08-08-2016

A while ago my van started to whine.
I think it's been going on a while but seems louder now.
If your idling it's not noticeable. Give it a blip or drive it then it whines.
Seems to be from the drivers side.
Sorry for being vague but hoping this is a common easy fix.

Not sure if the Berlinbo has the same set up as the Picasso but my 2.0HDI had the same problem, replaced Crank shaft pulley, the rubber center type, and auxillary belt tensioners. problem solved.

Alternator belt ?? pour slowly a jug of water on it whilst engine is running and if the belt is the issue it will run quietly when wet ( and of course make a noise again afterwards ! ).

Alternator bearing ?? Remove belt and spin / feel the pulley when rotating it by hand.

Otherwise remove a top cover for the timing belt and have a look at that perhaps it is wearing / running off the pulleys.

Try these for starters ...........

I had a similar noise recently, it was the belt tensioner pulley.
