Door speaker replacement?! - Mlrees23 - 15-05-2017 Hi all, was wondering what everyone's opinion was on just replacing the door speakers. Would I see much improvement with using the original head unit and just getting new door speakers or is would it be best having a new head unit aswell? I'm looking at getting these door speakers. What lead patch would I also need as I've seen people talking about needing to change the connectors?? RE: Door speaker replacement?! - THE BADGE - 15-05-2017 Hi there, what exactly do you mean by Head Unit ? RE: Door speaker replacement?! - THE BADGE - 15-05-2017 Just noticed there is another thread titled - Another head unit thread, this has lots of Q & A's that may help you, best of luck. RE: Door speaker replacement?! - Mlrees23 - 15-05-2017 Awesome, I'll have a search now. A few threads I've read into say about patch leads etc but the links have expired RE: Door speaker replacement?! - Mlrees23 - 15-05-2017 (15-05-2017, 05:24 PM)THE BADGE Wrote: Hi there, Oh and head unit I mean the radio RE: Door speaker replacement?! - Mlrees23 - 15-05-2017 (15-05-2017, 06:21 PM)doofer Wrote: What I've noticed is that they're very low down in relation to your ears, and I can muffle the treble lots by putting my leg in a slightly different position. So I'm not sure whether you'd get the benefit of having posh speakers pumping crystal clear music into the side of your leg. Well I was thinking the same as in doing the tweeters but I don't think my van has them either, and also guessing no wiring. I may try the new speakers out and if it comes to it I'll just get a new head unit also. How do I find out which head units can be used with the stalk controls and using the van display? The display isn't everything as I will probably just have range of miles left on for most of the time. Thank you for the reply RE: Door speaker replacement?! - Tomcat3 - 15-05-2017 My 08 plate van had the tweeters under the grills but my current 57 car didn't so I went to a nearby breakers and got a pair out of a scrapper. The wiring was there already you may have to have a good look for it though. It made for a better sound. I'll have a look when I'm home.....also I'll have a little look through the forum and see if anyone has wired tweeters in and how they done it. RE: Door speaker replacement?! - Tomcat3 - 16-05-2017 Mine were and are M59 models and the wires were just under the covers just needed to fish them out. RE: Door speaker replacement?! - THE BADGE - 16-05-2017 Like Tomcat says, the wires are there, but it's strange the tweeters are not, I thought the previous owner had taken them out, I now have my second Berlingo & again - no Tweeters ?? |
