Speedo sensor - jonnie100 - 18-06-2017 2004 2.0hdi My speedo has been intermittently playing up recently but now not working at all, mileage doesn't increase either. I ordered a replacement (aftermarket) speedo sensor and tried to fit it yesterday. The thing is, it won't go all the way in. I've tried all ways but no luck. I tried the old one and it pops right back in snugly but new one just won't fit. They look the same side by side so don't know what is wrong. Anyone else had this issue? Do I need to buy a genuine one? Thanks RE: Speedo sensor - geoff - 18-06-2017 Try lubricating the O Ring / seal ..................... RE: Speedo sensor - jonnie100 - 18-06-2017 Thanks. Tried that too. Even tried the old O ring on the new part but still won't go in fully. RE: Speedo sensor - cancunia - 19-06-2017 It may be that the electrical connector became dirty and simply putting the old back after a good clean might help? Here's a YouTube video that might be helpful, it's for a 206, but looks very similar to the Berlingo location. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pRilRhtR8I RE: Speedo sensor - Mighty - 19-06-2017 I had the same problem when I bought a cheap chinese replacement. I had to sand off the plastic to get it down to the size of the original piece. RE: Speedo sensor - jonnie100 - 22-06-2017 Problem solved. I rang Citroen to enquire about a genuine speedo sensor, £75 inc vat. I then tried my local motor factors who supplied me with one made by Febi, £32 inc vat. It popped right in, no problem and speedo is working again . So, anyone who ever needs to replace their speedo sensor, don't buy a cheap £15 ebay one as basically it's not fit for purpose. |
