Oil leak - bobalobmitchell - 28-07-2017 [attachment=3716][attachment=3715] HiĀ all, needing some advice on where this oil leak might be from. I replaced the timing belt in Jan myself and cant remember seeing any leaks from cam/crank seals etc. Van has had this leak for a good few years but never severe enough to drop oil levels. Seems to be getting worse and hate oil clarted all up over the sump. Its a DW10TD 55 plate. Rocker cover gasket was also replaced same time as belt. Have posted a few pics. Just wondering if its the gasket on the next level from top rock cover? Are there any common areas i should be checking? Access isnt great RE: Oil leak - polar - 28-07-2017 Its difficult to see you need to start by washing off the engine then go from there. RE: Oil leak - brodfather11 - 29-07-2017 The earlier models had a problem with rusty sumps , despite the interior being oiled all the time pinholes appeared in the sump where muck has been sticking to it. RE: Oil leak - oilyrag - 29-07-2017 Next gasket down from the rocker cover is the head gasket. As rec. above, thoroughly clean the engine and then start looking. RE: Oil leak - jj9 - 30-07-2017 As the Turbo is at the back of the engine I would look there first, they all tend to leak oil from the air-inlet pipework. . |
