sliding door panel removal - drc - 24-09-2017

I need to repair the lock on the sliding door on my 2010 Multispace as I can only open it from the inside.

So, how do you remove the inner door panel, so far I have removed the inner handle cover plate and removed the 3 retaining bolts and the small black screw at the top of the panel. Having forced the panel away at the side I can see a white stud that the panel slides onto but it looks like the whole panel needs to slide down to detach from them.

The white studs come out of the metal with the door panel, i.e. They don't slide off! To fit the door card you'd populate all the slide in holes with white clips and then push the door card on to the metal

Some of these studs are likely to break when you remove the trim, as they are made of plastic. You should have a set of new ones, so that you can replace the broken ones when refitting. It is a cheap and easy buy.

Job done! but what a pain removing the door panel. So, the fault was that the cable from the outer door handle had stretched and was not moving the catch release enough. As I could not see any way to adjust it I decided to shorten it by wrapping some wire around the lug in the end of the cable. As this worked I then encased it in some epoxy glue to stop it working loose and that was it.
