Introduction - Axolotl - 08-10-2018

Hello all,

I've just signed-up looking for help and advice on how to keep my '56 plate Multispace 1.6HDi happy and healthy.

Quite genuinely, this is one of the best, most practical and most reliable cars I have ever owned, so I am reluctant to see it go, even though we're nudging 175k miles (50k-ish down to me) and the cacophony of squeaks, clonks and rattles would shame a 1978 Lada Niva.  (And I've had a fair few cars, by the way!)

I'm no professional mechanic, but I will attempt most servicing and repairs if there's a half decent chance of not making things significantly worse.

So far the Berlingo has only needed a replacement alternator and new starter motor (the alternator thing was a bizarre incident where the belt snapped and on investigation I found that the free-wheel unit had simply vanished...  possibly a stone managed to get between belt and pulley? who knows?).

Anyway - I'll post queries about my current issue (gradual tailing-off of power after a long run) in the appropriate places and look forward to learning what I might do about it!

Thanks in advance for all your anticipated help!

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

I've been looking through the threads and am already thinking about banjo bolts and the microcamper thing.
