Berlingo ABS nightmare - greenclaws75 - 26-10-2019

Hi all, help needed please to get my van back on the road and restore my sanity!

I have a Berlingo 16 plate van with a damaged abs module.

So far I have obtained a matching numbers abs module from Ebay and bought a copy version of Diagbox.
With this setup I could  connect to the van (the earlier diagbox v7.02 didn't recognise the engine ecu)  but the ABS module comes up as a red  'No communication' message. [Image: icon_cry.gif] Is there an abs fuse that could have blown as the original abs module was damaged in the accident ?. Does the system have to be bled and piped up to connect . There are two permanent 12v feeds at the ecu plug and two earths.

Tried another spare abs module  off a Citroen Picasso but that wont talk to diagbox either..

I managed to update my diagbox to  v7.57 after watching the Chinese video again and now I can clear all fault codes except those for the missing headlamps.
Engine management light is now off.

Unfortunately the ABS module is still reporting as 'no communication' so I can't access it to find fault codes or change the configuration.

Any ideas on what to do next before I order a new abs module from Citren £££?. Is it worth updating diagbox to a later version ?,

Thanks in anticipation of any replies..really don't want to order an abs module from Citroen £££ if it's just a wiring issue [Image: icon_cry.gif] [Image: icon_cry.gif]

Thanks in anticipation of any replies Smile

I cant help with your specific faults but you could get your abs module tested by one of these companies before you throw money at a new unit. https://www.ecutesting.com/
or http://www.bba-reman.com/gb/index.aspx

Thanks TC. The circuit board on my old abs  ECU is slightly damaged but I will see if either company can repair it. Much cheaper than what Citroen are asking! Angry
Maybe they could setup my replacement abs so that it is compatible Huh I will look into it

You must first check can wires going to abs module. those wires are "twisted" pair.
No communication means can wires are not connected or abs module is not getting 12v power.

Totally other thing is when you have connection but it is wrong ABS module...
You will have different error in diagbox...

Can you please write down coding numbers from original abs and from ebay abs

Here is original numbers: https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-18751.html

Can you post pic from ebay abs module?

Best regards,
brajomobil

Thanks Brajomobil,Think I have solved the problem now with help from a very helpful chap from Easydiagnostics.com.

Just a note for anyone else that only Diagbox V7.74 and above works on the abs and engine ecu of a 2016 Citroen Berlingo . On the earlier versions I got ecu not recognised or no communication messages. It's a right pain updating removing and replacing a specific file on each update each time you load a sequence of updates but I got there eventually. Doesn't help that the video is in Chinese. Much less cost than going to Citroen so not complaining!

So just for clarity.....
does that mean that you have been able to successfully communicate with the ABS module
and program it to your vehicle and everything is now fixed & working?

Yes, no more fault messages or codes and the brakes now work fine.  I did get a fault code relating to the 'longitudinal acceleration sensor' that was cleared by checking the ''recalibration of sensor' option in the abs ecu repair section.

No programming changes needed as the abs module came of an identical van that was 6 months newer that had a  Bosch 9.0 abs system.

Great result.

Thanks for posting the outcome.
