TRAILING ARM TOOL - THE BADGE - 11-03-2020

Hi Chaps,
I am going to change the Trailing Arm Bearings, but as usual there is a special tool needed,
'the trailing arm removal tool'   is available on ebay & costs about £130 - with postage,
has anyone got one of these tools that I could borrow/hire ?

I live near Dartford - SE London,
any info appreciated [Image: huh.png]

Do you have a link to the tool?

Have a look at the youtube videos how to do it. Most use a home made puller using thick plate and some bolts.

I think this is the tool ....

The problem is that by the time you have identified the bearings as being a problem the axle pin that they sit on is knackered so there is little point in replacing the bearings.

That is a joke price for a couple of bits of flat bar and a few bolts, you could make one up in half an hour.

Thanks for your replies,

I thought of making the tool myself, its just the 'cutout' shape on the rear plate which could be a problem,
I've also thought of making a drawing & asking a local engineering workshop if they could make one ?
And what it would cost.

Hi mate,
there's a couple of vids on youtube showing the tool,
or on ebay you can see it for sale, £140 though.  [Image: angry.png]

Yeah I've seen the video on youtube of the tool in use...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIzeAFpIs1M

In the video you can see that the axle pin has corrosion, the guy is cleaning the worst of it off with sandpaper.

If the pin is heavily rusted / damaged new bearings will be short lived.

THE BADGE,
just seen your post selling the trailing arm tool, so you obviously got hold of one.

How did you get on with the job, were the axle pins ok?
