Amp installation... - Neb - 26-07-2023

A very wet Sunday, so fitted an amplifier in my Berlingo. It's a  bit fiddly but not too bad to be honest. Loads of room behind the glovebox for the amp (pioneer d1004, so quite a small amp)

I used this video just in case anyone else is looking for clues on how to do it.

The stock speakers sound significantly better with just an amp upgrade.

I used a t harness so there was no cutting of any wires and due to the modest power of the amp I used, I didn't need to feed a supply from the battery.

Did you have the head unit's built in DSP set to flat?

Not yet, one of the things to ask when I next take it in for a service. Noticeable extra bass but that's partly down to more output at the lower headunit volumes and the dsp adjusting the bass.

Do you know which setting I need to ask for to be modified? If the garage cant/won't modify it, are there other options?

Cheers

It's in the stereo menu! No need for a garage. Set DSP to Trance. Honest (if it's still called that on the K9 HU). You'll then probably find the amp wasn't even necessary.

I set my B9 DSP / equaliser to Trance and the bass was off the chart on Dub or Bob M. / Damien Marley.

I did that and you're right it does make a big difference to the stock setup. However, the amp makes a bigger difference. Once I upgrade the speakers, it'll be even better.

There is an option in the car diagnostics to set the dsp for the 8 speaker focal setup, the stock speakers and a flat dsp for aftermarket speakers. I thought that's what you meant.

Ah ok no worries. Glad youre happy with the setup though. Not may folk have messed with the K9 yet.

Hi Neb, do you have a link or picture of the harness you used for the amp please?

I used this harness, there might be cheaper ones, but this plugged straight in and worked
