Intermitten Crank no start error codes - Tikki - 18-09-2023

Hi.
Berlingo 2008 1,6
This morgning i tried to start the engine. but it just cranked.   After 4 hours i tried again and it starded.
It has been raining all night, and almost stopped raining when it started.

Voltage 12,3v  crank volt drops to 11,1v
It started with error codes:
Antipolution error in the dash. i have no dpf
p0686
p0245
p2141
p0003
p0201
p1639

After changing the two relays i got just the code p0686 for now,

take a look at the picture Cylinder 1, and 2.  strange values?
I have ohm the injector two pins 0.2ohm on cold engine.
no short circuit from the two pins to ground. and not from the connector to ground.

Any ideas on where to start with diagnostic?
its seemes to start and run normaly for now.

Water in the engine ECU perhaps? Seems plausible with the behaviour and the last fault about the injection power stage.

Have you tried clearing those codes, if they clear ok and don't return, then ignore it. If they won't clear or come straight back when starting again, then you have a problem in the ECU or the injector harness.

I'd check your battery.

There's a lot of low voltage faults there, and the voltages you mention atrn't stellar.

It starts and runs normally now...if the battery was gubbed it wouldn't. Batteries don't come back from the dead by themselves. A wet sense line in the ECU could do the trick, then dry out. It was cranking the op said but wouldn't fire until the heavy rain stopped.

have you checked battery clamps/connector? maybe they are corroded?
also check engine bay grounding wires

New update. It runs and starts this morning. It ha been raining all night.

I cleared the codes yesterday.  A drive from work - home - work.  I scanned it today, and these errors came up.

The terminals is ok and properly seatet.
I could change the battery and see.

The egr was change one year ago

It's not impossible for a weak battery to cause all sorts of random issues, and it's a low-to-no cost thing to check. On VW stuff there's a common crank-no-start fault as the ECU won't fire the engine unless it detects it's turning fast enough. Fractionally slow crank = no start.

But don't spend £80 on a battery on the offchance. Test it. If you're that way inclined, you can buiy an oldschool drop tester for about £15, eg, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195980201488 or there's electronic ones around for the same price. The old-fashioned one requires you to read and understand the scale on the meter.

Failing that, most garages will do it for nothing, but remember that they'd also quite like to sell you a battery.

It could easily be water getting at something, but start with the simple stuff before you fret about opening up ECUs.

Update.

I change the battery did not help.
I changed one injector, and of course it was the wrong one. Injector nr1 is on the gear box side

I think there is a injector fault due to p0201
Injector 4 +3.5mg/cp
Injector 3 - 2.5mg/cp
Injecot 1,2 0.4mg/cp

Internal leak is my guess.
