Spare Key Fob? - axxeman - 15-02-2026
Hello there good people. My 62 plate B9 has 2 keys ... correction, it has ONE original key (fob) that works nicely and a shitty plastic rectangular one that doesn't work at all (apart from the key blade). I would like to fit the blade and pcb into a shell the same as #1 fob so where oh where can I obtain one? I have seen plenty of two button ones on FleaBay but I need a 3 button that takes the pcb in a correct cut-out. I haven't even been able to convincingly ascertain the key fob part number either. Cat Car is rubbish.
Any help would be gratefully received.

I get replacements from ebay- make sure you get the three button one.
Example
You can get much more expensive ones if you like but take it from me they last the same time.
You will need a very small diameter drift to drive out the pin that holds the blade in

None of the above - they are all identical to the shitty plastic one that I described in my opening post. I am after the 3 button one with the slanting chrome top that acts as a belt loop. Kind of like this;

My key blade is non-grooved so I would just swap it over to the new case.

The rectangular ones are the standard original PSa group pattern
Looks like you will have to wait until someone in China decides to make a three button one.
As far as " shitty" goes ,a bit of chrome wont make life an more bearable.....

THe problem is finding someone who will cut the blade for you - most places won't cut a key they didn't supply.
And I agree on the "shitty" front - the citroen flip keys are a perfect example of penny-pinching too far, resulting in a cheap, nasty thing that doesn't work well or last.

A local independent locksmith cut a blade for me , only because he didn't have on one stock , Took £20.00 off me, muttering something about hard chinese metals which may damage his cutter. I thought that that was strange as I don't think a key blade would last long with a soft metal blade.

I did eventually solve this for myself, and now have two much nicer keys, without spending stupid money to do it.
I bought two of these, (three button versions are also availble if your remote is that type)

And sent the blades away to be copied, as local key cutters won't do them,

And now I have keys that aren't naff-looking and falling to bits.
Top tips - if you reassemble the new case and find the key jams partway open, take it apart again, rotate the button part a half-turn, then put the spring etc back in. Two turns of one half puts enough spring tension into the spring.
