Running fine but.. - Les - 23-09-2012

I have a 03 Multispace with a 1.9D,sometimes after starting up(from cold) the temp gauge goes to maximum activating the radiator fan, after about 20 seconds it falls again and the gauge functions normally.I assume its the sender unit as no other componants seem [/i]effected.Also occasionally the revs at idle(which is normally between 800-900rpm drifts down to about 600rpm,causing slight engine vibration,a slight dab of the throttle brings the idle up again.
Non of this is having any effect on the driving of the vehicle at the moment, and can be left, but if the sender needs replaced sometime in the future is it as simple as that or does it have any direct binding relationship with that dreaded BSI(of which I was blissfully unaware of the existance of till a few days ago!

Thought you'd like to know that after running the car yesterday and this morning the above issues seems to have sorted themselves out.I skooshed the key points of the throttle cable at the pedal and pump with WD 40 and its improved acceleration which was a bit vague before.I think the car may have been idle for a while before being fixed for sale and the wrinkles have smoothed themselves out through regular use.

Glad you're sorted and thanks for letting us know

With WD40 you will need to revisit this as it mostly evaporates after application and its effect don't last long, you may find it a more long lasting result to remove the cable at the pump, hang it in the air from the bonnet catch and flood it with oil, give it plenty of time to travel down the cable. Works for me.
