Thermostat Housing? - hachiroku - 08-08-2013

Noticed a slight leak on what I assume is the thermostat housing, thought it may just be the gasket at the top so cleaned the area up to try and find the cause.... there looks to be a small crack on the thermostat housing??? Perhaps someone can clarify what the actual part name is?

For now I have just put a bead of instant gasket around the outside of the housing and to cover what appears to be a crack, I'm not overly confident of the longevity of the repair, but we shall see...

you are correct it is the thermostat housing you need - change the stat while you are replacing the housing.

are you sure the crack is not just a molding mark?

It does look like a small crack to my eyes, but as it only loses a very small amount of coolant i will keep my eye on it over the weekend and make sure, before I go changing the entire housing.

ok, so the car has been losing a small amount of coolant on a regular basis, it appears to be slowly leaking from the gasket/seals on and around the thermostat housing and the associated black plastic bit on the side of the engine.

The pic below shows the part I'm talking about.

There appears to be a small leak from the gasket just below the blue bleed nipple, which seems easy enough to rectify.
However there is also a small leak from the section just below that in the pic, it looks like the whole thing is bolted together? and there may be a gasket joining the two halves? maybe this is where the leak is coming from...

Can someone confirm what the part below is called?
And whether it's possible to repair a leak on this part? or is it a case of buying a replacement?

Thanks.

Will this part fit?  eBay Xsara Picasse Thermostat Housing...

Looks to be the same, but how do I confirm the part number I need for my 53 Plate Berlingo 2.0Hdi ?   I can't see any markings or product number on the part currently on the car.

Would I be able to get this part from a Citroen main dealer? any idea on their prices?
