2.0HDi Head Gasket - Bigbootbill - 16-08-2013 I'm no mechanic, so my mate (who is) just replaced the head gasket on my 2.0HDi (2004). It might have been quicker to replace the whole engine. I'm just saying this so anyone who wants to have a go at it knows it's a bit of a mission. That book the mechanics use for job times says its about 15 hours plus the cam belt at about another 3. The head gasket on my series 3 Landy was considerably easier. RE: 2.0HDi Head Gasket - Barkas - 16-08-2013 A head gasket is just about the only engine job undertaken in garages these days, labour costs kill the overhaul jobs, and some garages dont want to tie a mechanic up for days when customers are queing with more profitable jobs like servicing. I used to re-bore truck engines in situ during the 80s its unheard of now, you can fit a replacement motor quicker with 2 men. RE: 2.0HDi Head Gasket - Lighty - 17-08-2013 Mammoth job, would write off most vehicles tbh.[/u] |
