What's block changing? Are you sure all the linkages are OK? I've had the banjo style links fail. They can go a bit sloppy. Cheap to buy and easy to replace.

I did turn the engine over and it just spun with no resistance. No compression. Doesn't look good. Any idea why they sheer? Could it be the garage's fault? Not that I particularly want to blame anyone...
