Maybe check / change the gearbox oil and go for a good run . Changing the gearbox oil in our Berlingo made a noticeable difference

Re the water in diesel, when i had this before the diesel looked like milk when i tried to bleed the engine. That was a marine engine on red diesel though

Possible that con rod bent on number 3 cylinder if engine hydrauliced with water. Also I guess you already know but don't count No 1 cylinder from the front pulley end of engine like I did

The wheelchair M49 I saw in a breakers had 1 extra seat in back if I remember right so is possible to get a rear single seat. Just the hassle with vehicle conformity / insurance
