Yep just swap the complete axle. It's not a bad job providing everything comes undone. It can be done on a driveway with some axle stands and a decent jack.

In all likelihood it was just a name chosen by a committee on the grounds that it can be be used worldwide, it can pronounced in various languages, it doesn't mean anything embarrassing in any languag...

My understanding is the main reason to change it is that the old gas as well as oil is vacuumed out and replaced with fresh oil along with the gas. About 2 years seems to be the normal recommendation....

I agree just ask a main dealer, Genuine parts are a lot cheaper in FR, more competition between dealers. An aux belt won't be much.

I think there is a risk if it's too stiff it'll skit about on bumps, so it has a negative effect on road holding. It would reduce body roll, but that's a different issue to road holding.
