The problem is now solved. It was a blocked catalytic converter. Thanks to Breedon and Gell of Darlington. They fitted a new cat and now the Berlingo drives like new.

I had a very similar problem on my Berlingo,it ended up undriveable. Put it into a garage, they discovered the catalytic converter was choked up. They put a new cat on, it runs like a dream now.
