I've just been to look at a 2002 DW8 1.9 van with only 80k on the clock. It's pretty tatty and will need several weekends of TLC but it has potential.
When I turned the steering wheel with the engine running, I found that if I gently held the wheel a few inches from its resting position (turning right or left) so the steering was just under tension, the wheel would gently 'twitch' (bounce) against my hand - as if the pump was engaging and disengaging cyclically.
Is this something to be concerned about or is it normal?
Many thanks.
