[Engine] DW8 Or DW8B?
#1
Hi, im trying to identify which engine i have in my Berlingo so i can price up spares/cambelt kit etc. online.

Can anyone clarify which engine it is please?

its a 1.9 diesel.
on a 51 reg plate.
chassis no VF7MFWJYB65******
No 4 injector has a small wire going into it.
Cam cover has a plastic addition to top half. looks like its to do with crankcase breather?

Also which Engine oil is best suited? I have access to 15w40 and could change oil every 6 months, or do i need to buy semi synthetic?
its done 110k and been well maintained, would 15w40 be detrimental to this engine?

Cheers.

Rob

It s a WJY engine which will be a DW8B. Just to make sure look at the injector pump it has a sensor on the top which the DW8 hasn't.
Just use oil which you would use for the DW8. There is really no difference except the DW8B has electronic controls for fuel management etc (ECU). where the DW8 has'nt

Hi Rob . Just thought id throw in my sixpence worth as ive got the same car as you other than mine is a 2002 DW8B.  Ive had my car for 10 years and its now got 80 k miles on . I change my oil/filter every 6 months and use a synthetic 5/40 Total quartz 8000 oil . This is what is recommended by Citroen . I know that oil choice is very emotive but I try and use the best I can and have found that since using this oil my MPG has been steady at 43 mpg which had risen from 38 mpg from the last oil that the garage was putting in . You can find good deals on ebay and I normally buy 4 x 5 ltr cans at a time and can be found by typing Total Quartz 8000 in ebays search box.   Hope that helps .
