Hi
Turned off the ignition and removed key to re-fuel. While re-fuelling the windscreen wipers and headlights came on and every warning light. Tried key in ignition to no effect, took key back out. After a few minutes the wipers and headlights switched themselves off but all warning lights still on. Put key in ignition, warning lights went off and engine started OK.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea what caused this.

Could it be the bsi having a hissy fit ?
There are details on the forum of how to reset the bsi, but if everything is back to normal I wouldn't bother.

Sounds like water in the fuse box, definitely worth checking, because if you catch it soon enough you can save further damage.

I would recommend you follow lighty's advice as he spends his days fixing french cars and has relevant experience.

It would help if you could put car type, engine and year as there are known problems for certain models and questions are easier to answer. Like the M59 model suffers from water in the bsi that has travelled down the wiring loom from the scuttle panel as the drain holes under there get blocked by leaves and dirt.
Are we there yet?????

Water getting somewhere it shouldn't can cause all that. But I've also seen them do similar weird things when the battery is a bit low either because it's been depleted by short trips with lights left on etc or because it's coming to the end of its life.
