When I changed the thermostat housing on my van (twice...), the vent/bleed fitting was very tight to push into the new housing, despite lubricating the O-ring with Vasaline. I ended up distorting the threaded part and now I find it's weeping coolant. Searching online doesn't seem to come up with anything, does anyone know if they are available or will I have to buy a S/H housing to get one?

Maybe try some plumber's PTFE tape?

I did think of PTFE tape, I would like to replace it possible as the 'U' shape clip is broken as well and I put a cable tie round it. I can't understand why the hew housings come with the fan switch but not the bleed fitting... maybe the more expensive ones do?
