Yep, press the lock button twice within two seconds, so as soon as the locks operate, you hear them lock and the indicators light up, press lock again as the indicators go off and they will stay on for two seconds, with a solid thump as the deadlock bolts engage. Lock....lock....done.

Can that just be explained for a second.
If the window is open and you deadlock it by pressing the remote twice, you can't then open the doors at all? Then what do you do?
But if you deadlock it with the window closed the doors will open as normal with the remote?
I'm a bit confused.

If you deadlock the doors, they cannot be opened from the inside handle.....once deadlocked they can only be opened by unlocking again with the key blade or remote.....whether the windows are open or not.

My point was, put the window down, lock the car then open the door while it's locked by leaning in the window and pulling the inside handle. That will set the alarm off if it's armed.

As a test of the alarm, you're opening the door with the inside handle when the car is already locked. You can't do that with the deadlocks engaged....

** Note for peace of mind to van owners with no alarm, deadlock the doors when you park up unless someone is left sitting in the van of course. Once deadlocked, the doors can only be opened with the key or remote. Even if they break a window, there is no way to open any of the doors. Even from inside. The manual warns against deadlocking if you leave children / passengers in the vehicle as they will not be able to escape if there is a problem while you're away from the car or van.

Zion, thanks for the explanation. I get it now and it makes sense. I was just concerned there was some wrinkle that made it such that the doors were locked in such a way they couldn't be opened without specialised help. My interpretation of your posts was faulty.

So finally traced the draw down to the head unit. With the head unit plugged in it was fluctuating every 2 seconds between 5Ma and 150Ma, not a massive draw but certainly enough to keep draining the battery.
Fitted the headunit from my picasso and it dropped to a constant 5Ma but with the odd fluctuations of 16Ma which is much better.

I wouldn't have guessed the headunit was at fault but something clearly wasn't shutting off inside it.

Hi, hoping someone maybe able to offer some help/advice.  I've been having a battery drain issue with my Berlingo.  I assumed to begin with it was just an old battery so replaced it for a new battery but within a day or 2 it's flat.  Today I've checked for parasitic draw with a multimeter and found unplugged the 20a fuse which controls the radio the draw disappears.

Not sure how I can narrow it down further and what else is in the same circuit as the radio.  Strangely the draw was fluctuating before unplugging the fuse but with it unplugged the draw was next to nothing as expected.

It seems odd it would be the radio itself it's the original factory fit radio and it seems looking online the alarm is on the same circuit but I didn't think it had one tbh.

It's a 2009 B9 1.6 hdi

Hi , I am having a similar problem what Reg is your van mine is a 66 plate I have a leisure battery fitted to the back for window cleaning since setting the van up I have constantly suffered from a dead leisure battery I also have a split relay after testing everything turns out my front battery on the van is drawing nearly 1 amp of power even when the van is off my mechanic was very shocked when I told him I have never had a problem with the front van battery it’s never gone flat even when was on holiday, I have put a cut off switch next to the battery hopefully that may help I’ve attached picture that are cheap I’m also getting Auto electricianto goo over it , I’m heading towards the radio mine is the touch screen blue tooth version. If I can help more I will good luck
