... Timing belt tool info please...
#1
I'm just starting to replace the timing belt on my 2005 1.9D and have a question : the engine has the fixed camshaft pulley like a 2 litre.

The Haynes manual advises that the crankshaft sprocket should be turned
" Fully anti-clockwise to the limit of the movement afforded by the keyway.
Lock the sprocket in this position by inserting a 2.0 mm diameter rod down the left-hand side of the woodruff key. "

I am fine with performing the above function but what concerns me is where the manual states " lock the sprocket " since when the 2.0 mm rod is inserted the sprocket most definitely isn't locked and still has free movement. In fact it takes a rod of around 3.5mm to lock the sprocket !

Can someone confirm that the size rod specified in the Haynes manual is correct ?
I've done many a timing belt over the years without issue so I'm not without ability - perhaps I am worrying over nothing but I'd rather be sure.

Hi, it states 2mm in the Citroen procedure but think when I did mine I found something to fit it exactly then it definitely can't move. Confusedalut:

Well I got there in the end !!!
I priced a full kit locally and the best price was £125 inc so as ever I went onto the internet and Ebay came up trumps as it so often can. I ended up buying for £77 inc which to me was a bargain.
Ebay : 230781798514 just in case anyone else is interested.
The troubles came my way in the form of the courier who delivered to the wrong address and caused me no end of hassle. Quite happy with the seller who was more than helpful.
Once again thanks to all for your help.
