Everlasting light bulbs?
#1
Having had my Berlingo for 5 years & it just passing it's 3rd MOT,I have suddenly realised all the bulbs are original.
Is it better bulbs? Better generator regulation?
Ideas on a postcard please.

Mine seemed to go through side light bulbs every couple of months, the last set have lasted a year! Maybe they make em better than they used to?

All my bulbs, bar a number plate light, are original. 2005 and 90000 miles later.

I had that. Sidelight and number plate lamps went for a pastime for a couple of years . Lately (touch wood) they've lasted a while though

What is it about Berlingo sidelight bulbs???
All the other ones have been fine.
In fact only had one sidelight when I bought it. That was first job when got home!
Replaced with filament bulb; one blew, replaced with LED; one melted, replaced with LED (thought could have been faulty); both failed, back to (quality) filament; one blew, back to LED; one has failed.
That is all in 19 months.
Wondering if there is a supply fault to the lighting circuit?
Anyone had a meter to it?
As the sidelight has a tiny filament, would be more susceptible to slight increase in voltage (13.8v +) than other bulbs. Something is going on to melt an SMD LED, got to be voltage related. Confusedcratch:

From what I can tell from friends results (never having used LED bulbs in the car myself) LED quality is very variable, as variable as filament bulbs are.

Berlingo bulbs last forever. The 12 year old one that we have just scrapped had a sidelight and a stop/tail light replaced because they blew and the indicator lights because the orange coating peeled off.

My sister's Ford Focus is always needing new bulbs.

Rear brake light and numberplate bulbs go, presume it's due to tailgate getting slammed, which I wish had a good damping system fitted.
