I from barcelona I no nothing.
Does it use up your phones data credit?
Will it still work when the phone has no network coverage?
It is on my to do list.

Yes, Google Navigation will use mobile data on you device.
There are some very good free "offline" SatNav apps which store the maps on your phone, so they will still actually work if you have no mobile signal. Have a look at NavFree which is available for both Apple and Android devices.

Check out CoPilot Premium Europe
Seems although they all need data connection switched on to use navigational features- the ones that use massive data are ones that download map data as you go, not ones that only require your GPS location.
