Hi all,
Now I know it is a berlingoforum, but I have a Berlingo (M59) and a Peugeot 307. They share so many things that I thought someone might know a solution.
So, the indicator stalk in the Peugeot 307 if you wiggle it slightly it turns the headlights ON. This happens if everything is switched off and sometimes from potholes or normal travel they switch on again. Turning the sidelights ON cancels this random switching altogether. So, if the sidelights are ON, this never happens.
I know it is a known fault with the DAV COM2000 and the floppy indicator stalk that one can easily sort with a new plastic plunger that gets worn. So, I took it apart, and the COM2000 unit is Delphi COM2005, not the DAV one. The plunger is a new type, not as round and they have changed the ground plug (airbag) with a screw. I could not find a single fault, cleaned the connections, etc. Just to be on the safe side, I ordered two new plungers and replaced them. None of the old ones were worn out. I believe that the ECU cannot recognise some sort of command from the COM2005 and the safe option is to turn the headlights ON. It could well be that there is some cross touching of the really fine contacts in the indicator stalk, but they seemed alright, nothing was worn or touching something else.
Nevertheless, this random switching of the headlights is still happening. Does anyone know what causes this in the newer Delphi COM2005? I am temped to get a second hand unit (£30 or so from ebay) and replace it and hope for the best kind of thing.
Many thanks again and apologies for the car not being a Berlingo :-)
