New Audi A1

Saw my first Audi A1's being delivered to a local Audi dealer today. Haven't seen them before, and still cannot make my mind up if they are nice or not. Look slightly unfinished in a way, but they do have a nice Audi style about them.

Looking at the performance figures, they don't really blow you away. 8.6s to 100kph i think for the 1.4 Petrol engine.

What are your opinions? Would you go for one over a Polo, Mini, Ibiza?

I guess that it is the usual VAG conundrum (marketing trick?). Take the same basic platform and if you want it cheap and robust it comes with a Skoda badge, cheap and a bit quirky and it is a Seat, conservative with a bit of class and its a Volkswagen, but if you want to show off then it becomes an Audi. Same platform, engines, gearboxes, just the wrapping that changes in my opinion.

Having said that, if they launch this RS version (which is supposed to have the Golf GTI's 200hp engine, and due in 2012) then that would be a cracker.

You are right, the RS is certainly a stunning version, 2012 is a little late on...
