[Filters & Oil] Changing the diesel Filter on a Mk3
#1
Has any one changed their diesel filter on their Mk3 1.6HDi?

I'm OK with the removal of the old one and fitting the new one, but I'm unsure about the bleeding

Any advice is much appreciated

All you need to do is pump the bulb on top of the engine, keep going , sometimes it takes a couple of mins together the fuel up. You will know when you have got all the air out as you can feel the fuel inside the pump bulb. No bleed nipples to open, just keep pumping.

How often do owners in general change these, I know it's on the maintenance list but has anyone ever had one clog up?

I change mine @ 25,000 instead of 36,000.That way it should never clog. They're not expensive so why not.Always use a good brand.

They should be changed every second service . This coincides with the 25000 miles that Ron suggests, however, the newest van service intervals are 16000 miles, so that makes it every 32000.
