Are you out of your FRIGGIN MIND!???

You are potentially hiding a serious malfunction of a safety system!

Disabling the warning light is an instant MOT fail!
And they WILL fail you.
They will know that the car has Airbags installed(it's written on the friggin! steering wheel! and on the dash... ) and will expect the lamp to light up for a few seconds after they switch on the ignition.
When they don't see the light... FAIL!

Good luck with getting the vehicle through an mot as Gadgetman says, it is checked for at the mot that it comes on when the ignition is turned on and then goes off after a self test a few seconds later. Has it not occurred to you that the reason the airbag light is on is that there is a fault in the system so it needs fixing.

I've seen "recipes" where the globe is powered up by a timer at ignition on, to look like a self-test.

What puzzles me is morbidly obese people afraid of injury from an airbag. I'd think the extra weight to be more of a hazard, constantly!

There's also the issue of responsibility if the car is sold to someone else, who doesn't realise that the light has been tampered with, and therefore believe the Airbag system is working correctly...
"I'm driving to the fish&chip store, it's only 30mph limits all the way. The airbag can handle that, so I don't need the belt...."
Not to mention the repair cost for the Airbag system and the cost of a second inspection when it fails the first one.
(If something like that happened to me, I would track down the previous owner and make him pay all those costs + any costs I had in tracking him down. )

Morbidly obese people aren't really 'all there' in the head to begin with.
I'd love for the police to stop a car full of them and tell them that one of them have to get out and WALK because they're over the load capacity of the car...
(Of course, the police can't do that. It's not 'PC' to 'harass' a group of people like that... )

Berlingo MK 2 Multispace Desire

I'm new to the forum, so hi to all.
I've hit the airbag warning light/ MOT failure problem.
Am about to go to a main dealer for the diagnostic treatment and wondered if anyone has any tips before I go?
Its a major safety feature so tricks and work arounds are not for me, I just want to avoid huge and possibly unnecessary expense. Sorry, don't trust the main dealers.

The Berlingo is the most useful car I have ever owned.
