When doing rear shoes , take both drums off and work on one side at a time so have a reference to how they go back together again.

Buy yourself an impact screwdriver as they make short work of taking drums and discs off especially if the screws holding them on are seized.

Don't forget to release the handbrake when trying to take the rear drum off as it is a bugger to remove when the handbrake is on :-[

Thor hammer is useful when tapping the rear drum to release it

Haynes manual is a useful resource (although not as good as it used to be)

Buy the best pads and shoes you can afford, don't skimp on something which is a safety critical piece of kit

Apply a good smear of copper grease to the rear of the pads to stop them squealing

That's a few for starters
